CATS suspends Charlotte Gold Line through early Monday; riders directed to bus routes

The Gold Line will be out of service from 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, until 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, for scheduled maintenance. CATS says construction on Trade Street prevents a bus bridge, but several regular bus routes can serve riders along the line.

CATS suspends Charlotte Gold Line through early Monday; riders directed to bus routes

Charlotte’s Gold Line streetcar service will shut down for the weekend as the Charlotte Area Transit System conducts its twice-yearly maintenance, CATS said.

The closure begins at 2 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and service is scheduled to resume at 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26. The line runs from French Street Station through Uptown to the Elizabeth neighborhood and Plaza Midwood area.

CATS will not provide replacement shuttle buses because of construction in the Trade Street area. Riders traveling west of the Charlotte Transportation Center toward French Street Station can use routes 1, 7 or 8. For trips east of the center toward Sunnyside Station, CATS lists routes 9, 14, 15, 17 and 27 as alternatives.

The Blue Line will continue operating during the Gold Line shutdown, connecting south Charlotte through Uptown with the UNC Charlotte campus.
