Stoughton investigators examine whether Central Street house fire was deliberately set
A person was rescued with critical injuries and burns from a Stoughton home early Wednesday. Police and the state fire marshal’s office are investigating whether the fire was intentionally set.
A person was critically injured in a house fire on Central Street in Stoughton early Wednesday, and investigators are examining whether the blaze was deliberately set, officials said.
Firefighters responded around 5:45 a.m. after a 911 call that ended without a conversation, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. Fire Chief Michael Carroll said smoke was visible when crews arrived. They rescued the injured person and provided immediate medical aid; Carroll said the person had burns.
The scene was on Central Street between Pearl and Station streets. Police and the state fire marshal’s office were involved in the investigation, Carroll said. He noted that it is unusual for a fire to be reported through only one 911 call.
Officials have not released the person’s identity or further information about the investigation.
