Fitchburg High plans added police presence Thursday after student reports threat
Police are investigating two incidents at Fitchburg High School this week, while a separate, nonspecific threat overheard by a student is prompting increased police presence Thursday. The principal said a boy faces criminal charges in connection with Monday’s disturbance; no arrests were made in either incident.
Fitchburg High School will have an increased police presence Thursday after a student reported overhearing a nonspecific threat, Principal Matt Lamey said in a statement shared by the city’s mayor.
Police are also investigating two incidents at the school this week, on Monday and Wednesday. Lamey described those events as separate from each other, but did not say whether either was connected to the reported threat.
On Monday, a boy was involved in a disturbance and faces criminal charges, Lamey said. No one was arrested. He did not provide details about Wednesday’s incident, and said there were no arrests in that case either.
The school resource officer is investigating both incidents. Lamey said he could not disclose some information because juveniles are involved.
