Cecil County veterans village to expand with 77 new homes
Maryland is committing more than $23 million to add 77 homes at HELP Perry Point Veterans Village. The expansion will increase housing for veterans and their families experiencing or at risk of chronic homelessness.
Maryland will invest more than $23 million in a second phase of HELP Perry Point Veterans Village, adding 77 homes on the Perry Point VA Medical Center campus in Cecil County, Gov. Wes Moore announced Friday.
The new homes will more than double the village’s capacity. The community offers permanent supportive housing to veterans and their families who are experiencing or at risk of chronic homelessness, with access to Veterans Affairs services including case management, life-skills training and mental health care.
The village’s first phase opened in 2018, converting older homes on the Perry Point property into housing. By 2019, the community included 40 houses divided into 75 apartments. Maryland announced 50 housing vouchers for homeless veterans in Cecil County in 2021.
The announcement did not specify when construction on the expansion will begin or when the homes are expected to open.
