Baltimore County police, schools respond to threat tied to Woodlawn High

Baltimore County police are investigating a threat circulating on social media involving Woodlawn High School, authorities said Sunday, Oct. 18.

Police are working with Baltimore County Public Schools, and additional resources will be put in place, according to authorities. Officials have not specified what those resources will be or shared details about the threat.

The investigation comes after two fights at the school last week. On Oct. 14, a verbal dispute between students led to a fight, and a school investigation found that one student had a gun. A school resource officer secured the firearm until police arrived. Officers recovered a loaded weapon and arrested the student, according to the account of the incident. No one was injured and no shots were fired.

The following day, another student was injured in a fight. Police said no weapons were involved. The school went into lockdown for about an hour after that fight, and students were told to remain in their classrooms, according to a ninth-grade student identified as Riley Johnson.

Police have not said whether the social media threat is connected to either fight. The investigation is ongoing.
