Round Rock police seek suspect after 17-year-old is assaulted on dog walk
A 17-year-old says a man attacked him near his home while he was walking his dog Saturday night. Round Rock police are investigating and say they believe the assault was isolated.
A 17-year-old was injured in an assault while walking his dog near his Round Rock home Saturday night, and police are asking the community for information as they search for a suspect.
Officers responded shortly before 10 p.m. to the 1300 block of Stone Manor Trail after a report of an assault, the Round Rock Police Department said. The suspect had not been identified as of Wednesday afternoon, and the investigation was ongoing.
Howard Cary IV said he had just left his backyard through a gate when he noticed a man nearby. He said the man suddenly grabbed him and tried to hurt his eyes as they struggled.
“I thought I was gone,” Cary said. He is recovering from injuries to his knees and arms.
Cary’s parents said their son ran home after the attack. Home surveillance footage captured him returning for help, according to the family. His father then went into the neighborhood to look for the suspect.
The family is urging neighbors to check their security-camera footage and share any information with investigators. They said they are concerned the person could hurt someone else. Police, however, have said they believe the assault was an isolated incident.
Anyone with information about the assault is encouraged to contact the Round Rock Police Department.
