A Round Rock ISD student riding an electric bicycle was injured Monday evening after a westbound driver struck her in a crosswalk at Surrey Drive and Gattis School Road, according to Round Rock police.
Officers responded to the collision at about 6:45 p.m. Oct. 5. Police said a preliminary investigation found that the driver ran a red light before hitting the student.
The student was taken to a local hospital. The school district described her injuries as “fairly severe, but not life-threatening.”
Police cited the driver for disregarding a red light and failing to maintain financial responsibility, a requirement related to vehicle insurance.
