Austin police are investigating the death of a man in his 60s or 70s found at the CapMetro Norwood Transit Center early Tuesday. The case marks the city’s 45th homicide of 2026, according to police.

Austin police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead early Tuesday at the CapMetro Norwood Transit Center in north Austin. Officers responded around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 6 to a report from a CapMetro driver who said a person was on the ground with blood nearby, an Austin Police Department public information officer said. The scene is in the 1000 block of Norwood Park Boulevard. Police identified the person as a white man in his 60s or 70s. Investigators have not released details about how he died. The officer said the incident appeared to be isolated and did not seem to be “a completely random murder.” Police have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect.
