Williamson County received $7 million in federal funding for Corridor A2, a planned road connection between FM 3349 and State Highway 95 south of Taylor, officials said Oct. 10, 2026.
The county says the project is intended to improve safety, reduce congestion and strengthen east-west connections. It would also provide an alternate route for freight vehicles traveling on U.S. 79.
County Judge Steve Snell said the investment is part of planning for transportation needs as the county grows. He said expanding road infrastructure is important to mobility, economic development and keeping communities connected.
U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions helped secure the federal funding, according to the county. Sessions said the investment supports job growth and prepares the area for future opportunities.
Officials did not provide a construction schedule or the project’s total cost.
