A 19-year-old passenger who died in a southeast Austin crash over the weekend has been identified as Yesenia Elain Perfitt, Austin police said Wednesday. Police said officers responded around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, to a collision involving a sedan and a pickup truck at Farm-to-Market Road 973 and Pearce Lane, near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. Perfitt was riding in the sedan and died at the scene, police said. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to a hospital with injuries police described as non-life-threatening. Authorities have not released information about what caused the crash. Police are investigating the collision as Austin’s 62nd fatal crash of 2026. Those crashes have resulted in 63 deaths, according to police figures cited by the department.
