Georgia 400 shoulder lane near Windward Parkway ends Dec. 13 for express-lane work
The northbound flex lane between Webb Bridge Road and Windward Parkway will stop serving as a peak-hour travel lane Dec. 13. GDOT says four northbound lanes will remain open during construction of the State Route 400 Express Lanes Project.
ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Drivers on northbound State Route 400 will lose a roughly three-quarter-mile flex lane near Windward Parkway starting Dec. 13, as construction advances on the highway’s express lanes project.
The lane, a flexible shoulder that currently opens as an extra lane during morning and evening rush hours, runs from just south of the Webb Bridge Road overpass to Exit 11 at Windward Parkway. The Georgia Department of Transportation plans to remove its signs and pavement markings and install a temporary concrete barrier.
Four northbound lanes are expected to stay open through the work. Drivers exiting at Windward Parkway should use the right lanes; through traffic should continue on the main roadway.
GDOT advises motorists to slow down and allow extra travel time in the work zone, where crews, heavy equipment and temporary traffic patterns will be present. Construction schedules may shift because of weather or other conditions. Drivers can check traffic and work updates by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org or using the Georgia 511 app.
