Dooly County teen arrested after deadly Vienna block-party shooting
A 17-year-old faces firearm possession and gang activity charges in connection with the Oct. 4 shooting in Vienna that killed two people and injured 35. Investigators say more arrests are expected; the teen has not been charged directly in the deaths.
A 17-year-old from Dooly County has been arrested in connection with a shooting at a block party in Vienna that left two people dead and 35 injured, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced Friday, Oct. 9.
The teenager faces one count of possessing a firearm and one count of participating in criminal street gang activity, according to the GBI. The announced charges are not directly related to the two deaths.
The shooting happened early Sunday, Oct. 4, on a residential street near U.S. 41. Ja’Quavion Aderious Jackson, 21, of Cordele, and Macaleb Malik Jackson, 23, of Hawkinsville, were killed.
The GBI said its investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected. The agency has not announced further details about the teenager or the circumstances leading to the shooting.
