Capitol View brewery proposal clears Atlanta zoning committee
Atlanta’s Zoning Committee unanimously backed a zoning change sought by Khonso Brewing for a proposed brewery and taproom on Dill Avenue. The project still faces further review and permitting before construction can proceed.
A proposed microbrewery and taproom in Atlanta’s Capitol View neighborhood moved forward Monday, Oct. 26, when the City Council’s Zoning Committee unanimously approved a zoning request tied to the project.
Fun Ventures LLC, doing business as Khonso Brewing, filed the application for a site on Dill Avenue. The change would add microbrewery as an allowable use under the relevant zoning rules, enabling the business to seek permits for a brewery and taproom.
The Capitol View Neighborhood Association supports the proposal. In a letter to the city, association members said that, after reviewing the request, it represented “the type of use we would like to see” in the neighborhood.
The committee vote does not complete the approval process. The proposal’s next step is review by the Zoning Review Board, and construction would also require the applicable safety and building permits.
If approved through those steps, Khonso Brewing would add a new place to make and serve beer in southwest Atlanta.
