Two family members killed in Putnam County crash as SUV traveled to Conyers

Two people and a small dog died Monday morning when a pickup truck struck a family’s SUV head-on in Putnam County, according to Sheriff Howard Sills. Four people were injured, including two young children.

The crash happened at about 7:22 a.m. at the intersection of Georgia Highway 212 and Twin Bridges Road. The family was moving from Daytona Beach, Florida, to Conyers, Sills said.

Alisha Porter was driving a 2025 Hyundai Palisade carrying her 28-year-old daughter, Cassidi Porter; her 16-month-old and 9-month-old grandsons; and 51-year-old Steven Reynolds. Cassidi Porter and Reynolds died in the crash.

Putnam County emergency medical crews took Alisha Porter and the two boys to Atrium Medical Center in Macon. Alisha Porter was in critical condition, while officials had not released the children’s conditions. The pickup driver, identified by the sheriff as 19-year-old Elijah Brooks Malcom of Good Hope, was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.

The sheriff’s office said the family’s SUV was hit by a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The crash remains under investigation, and authorities expect to file charges.
