Chamblee police chief to lead department in Mount Dora, Florida
Michael Dieppa is leaving Chamblee for a new job as police chief in Mount Dora. His departure is expected later this year, but the city has not announced his final day.
CHAMBLEE, Ga. — Police Chief Michael Dieppa is resigning from the Chamblee Police Department to become chief in Mount Dora, Florida, city officials announced Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Dieppa, who has led Chamblee’s department since October 2023, said serving the community for three years was an honor. He praised department employees for their work on public safety and quality-of-life concerns for residents and visitors.
The City of Chamblee said his resignation will take effect later this year. A final work date has not been set. City Manager Kristen Gorham thanked Dieppa for his service and wished him well in his next role.
The city credited Dieppa’s tenure with several department changes, including a real-time crime center, a Neighborhood Resource Unit and a Citizens Advisory Committee intended to strengthen ties between police and the community. Other initiatives included a bike patrol, autism-safety training for officers and the department’s first LGBTQ+ liaison.
Chamblee also said crime declined by double digits in each of Dieppa’s three years as chief. The city listed the department’s Georgia Law Enforcement Certification and the appointment of its first female assistant chief, Andrianne Byrd, among accomplishments during his leadership.
