Police investigate North Seattle gunfire; gold SUV believed to have been targeted
Gunfire erupted early Tuesday in an Arco station parking lot near Aurora Avenue North and North 105th Street. A delivery-truck driver was treated for minor scratches, while investigators examined dozens of evidence markers and searched for what led to the shooting.
Seattle police are investigating a shooting early Tuesday at an Arco gas station near Aurora Avenue North and North 105th Street, where officers found dozens of evidence markers around the scene and across the street.
Police were dispatched at 4:48 a.m. after several people called 911 to report gunfire. Officers found a 44-year-old man with scratches on his head, possibly from glass after doors at the station shattered. Seattle Fire Department medics treated him at the scene.
The man was not involved in the shooting, police said. He had just driven into the parking lot in a delivery truck when shots were fired. No other victims were found.
Investigators placed markers near numerous shell casings. Police said a gold Chevrolet SUV was in the lot during the shooting and left immediately afterward. The vehicle was later found abandoned near North 105th Street and Fremont Avenue North. Investigators believe the SUV was the intended target and are treating it as a victim vehicle.
The Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit is leading the investigation and working to determine what preceded the gunfire. A police map shows a CCTV camera near the intersection.
