Everett police seek driver after pickup strikes six people outside Broadway restaurant
EVERETT, Wash. — Police are searching for a driver who allegedly stole a pickup truck and drove it into a group of people outside El Muchacho Alegre on Broadway early Sunday, injuring six people after a parking-lot fight. Four men were initially taken to a hospital with serious injuries. One victim was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Everett police said. Investigators said the driver crashed the truck about a block from the restaurant and ran away. Police have not identified a suspect. Everett police recovered a shell casing at the scene but believe no one was shot, a department spokesperson said. Neighbors and witnesses described a chaotic scene in the early morning. One resident said two loud bangs woke people in nearby homes. A witness who arrived around 3:46 a.m. said police had surrounded the parking lot. Some residents said they have longstanding concerns about activity in the area, including cars speeding through an alley at night. One neighbor said residents had raised concerns with the restaurant. The business’s workers declined to comment on camera, and management did not respond to an emailed request for comment. Everett police’s Traffic Safety Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the department at 425-257-8450.
