Woman Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 113 in Solano County
A woman in her 50s died Saturday afternoon after her car crossed into oncoming traffic on Highway 113 and collided with a work truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A woman was killed Saturday afternoon when her car veered into oncoming traffic on Highway 113 in Solano County and struck a work truck head-on, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash was reported shortly before 4:30 p.m. and involved a white Nissan Altima and a work truck, according to CHP.
Preliminary findings indicate the Nissan, driven by a woman approximately 50 years old, was heading northbound when the driver lost control, crossed the center line into the southbound lanes and collided with the truck, authorities said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the work truck was not injured, CHP said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not released the woman's name pending notification of family.
Highway 113 is a key north-south route through Solano County, connecting the cities of Dixon and Davis and serving as a commuter corridor for residents traveling between the Sacramento region and the Bay Area. The stretch where the crash occurred is a two-lane rural highway, and head-on collisions on such roads are often among the most severe.
CHP has not said whether speed, weather or other factors contributed to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP's Solano-area office.
