T&T Supermarket to open 50,000-square-foot San Francisco store Nov. 5
The Asian grocery chain will open its first San Francisco location in Anza Vista, bringing fresh seafood, prepared foods and a broad range of Asian groceries to a long-vacant space. Its only current Northern California store is in San Jose.
T&T Supermarket is scheduled to open its first San Francisco location Nov. 5 in a 50,000-square-foot space at City Center in the Anza Vista neighborhood, expanding the Canadian grocery chain’s Bay Area presence beyond its San Jose store.
The store is at 2675 Geary Blvd. and will occupy a space that had been vacant. T&T’s San Jose location, which opened in June, is currently the company’s only Northern California store.
The new market is expected to offer a mix of groceries and ready-to-eat food, including fresh seafood, sushi platters, roasted meats, Taiwanese sticky rice rolls and savory crepes. The chain also carries frozen dumplings and bao, produce, packaged snacks and other goods from across Asia.
At its San Jose store, a 32-piece sushi platter was priced at $23.88, and a butterflied fried chicken known as Papa Chicken cost $15. Barbecue selections included a char siu pork and roast duck meal for $15.99. Prices and offerings at the San Francisco location were not specified.
T&T was founded in 1983 in the suburbs of Vancouver by Taiwanese immigrant Cathy Lee. The company says it is the largest Asian supermarket chain in North America. Its stores combine conventional grocery aisles with specialty sections for seafood, hot pot ingredients and prepared foods.
The opening will bring a large-format grocery tenant to a neighborhood commercial area and give San Francisco shoppers another source for specialty Asian groceries and prepared meals. T&T has not provided details about staffing or the store’s hours in the information available.
