Suspect arrested after fatal shooting on Market Street near the Warfield

San Francisco police arrested a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Ulysses Tykee Davis, 47. Investigators have not confirmed whether the shooting was connected to a concert at the nearby Warfield Theatre earlier that night.

A 42-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the fatal shooting of a man on Market Street near San Francisco’s Warfield Theatre, police said Wednesday. Homicide detectives identified Shakia Vanderbilt as the suspected shooter, according to the San Francisco Police Department. She was arrested Tuesday. The arrest is an allegation; the department has not released further details about the case. Officers responded at about 1 a.m. Saturday to the 900 block of Market Street after reports of a shooting. They found a man with an apparent gunshot wound and took him to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later died, police said. The medical examiner identified the victim as Ulysses Tykee Davis, 47, of Contra Costa County. The Warfield hosted a “Baddies USA Chapter Three” concert Friday from 9 p.m. until midnight, hours before police responded to the shooting. Police have not confirmed any connection between the event and the killing.
