Former SFPD Deputy Chief Ann Mannix and daughter killed in Marin County shooting
A shooting at a home in Strawberry on Sunday left retired San Francisco police officers Ann and Kevin Mannix and their daughter dead, authorities said. The sheriff’s office is investigating.
Two retired San Francisco police officers and their daughter were found dead Sunday at a home in Strawberry, an unincorporated Marin County community near Mill Valley, authorities said Monday.
The Marin County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called shortly after 5 p.m. after a 911 caller reported gunfire. Deputies arrived within minutes and escorted the caller to safety. After establishing a perimeter, they found three people dead. The office said there was no continuing threat to the public and that the investigation is ongoing.
San Francisco police identified the victims as former Deputy Chief Ann Mannix, retired Sgt. Kevin Mannix and their youngest daughter, Katie. Police Chief Derrick Lew informed department members late Sunday that the family had died.
Authorities allege Kevin Mannix shot his wife and daughter before killing himself. Ann Mannix retired from the San Francisco Police Department in 2021. No further details about the circumstances or a possible motive were provided in the information released Monday.
