Fatal shooting reported Friday at Potrero Hill housing complex

A man was shot and killed Friday evening at Potrero Hill Terrace and Annex, a public housing complex in San Francisco, police said.

Officers were sent at about 8:38 p.m. to the 1100 block of Wisconsin Street, which borders Starr King Elementary School. They found the man with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene despite efforts by officers and paramedics, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

The shooting was the second this year at the roughly 600-unit hillside complex. In February, Cornelius Wigfall Jr. was killed and a child was wounded in a shooting while Wigfall was sitting in his car near 25th and Dakota streets.

Potrero Hill Terrace and Annex is among San Francisco’s remaining public housing developments and is being redeveloped as a mixed-income residential community. Police said the latest killing remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call SFPD at 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, beginning the message with “SFPD”; tips may be anonymous.
