A truck struck a Fall River home early Saturday, trapping a resident beneath concrete and damaging an apartment. The injured resident was hospitalized and is expected to recover; the Red Cross is helping residents find a place to stay.
A truck crashed into a Fall River home early Saturday, sending debris into an apartment and leaving one resident hospitalized, according to the resident who lives there.
The woman said she and her boyfriend were inside when they heard a loud impact. Debris fell on them, and her boyfriend was pinned beneath concrete, she said. He remained hospitalized Saturday but was expected to be OK.
The apartment sustained substantial damage: glass was scattered across the floor, concrete crushed the couple’s couch, and a porcelain decoration was thrown into a wall, breaking through the drywall, the woman said.
Witnesses said the truck crossed a grassy area and a parking lot before hitting the home. They said police marked the vehicle’s path with red paint.
The woman also said she saw the driver pull a knife on police after they arrived. That account had not been confirmed by police as of Saturday night.
The American Red Cross was helping residents find somewhere to stay for the night. The crash happened in the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 24.
