Bristol Police Arrest Three in Months-Long Cocaine and Fentanyl Investigation Tied to Church Street Apartment

BRISTOL, R.I. — Bristol police have arrested three people following a months-long, multijurisdictional investigation into the sale of cocaine and fentanyl in town, including a Church Street apartment that has generated repeated complaints from neighbors.

Christopher Desouza and Nelson Amaral were identified by investigators as being involved in delivering and distributing illegal drugs in and around Bristol, according to a police news release. Authorities said the two men transported cocaine and fentanyl into Bristol and sold the drugs to customers there.

Police said tips and complaints repeatedly pointed to 118 Church St., where Michael Brum occupied and controlled a unit. The investigation confirmed that Desouza and Amaral were using that unit to sell and distribute illegal drugs, officials said.

Since December 2025, officers have responded to 118 Church St. more than 35 times for various calls for service, including drug complaints, according to police.

On Oct. 23, Bristol police conducted a traffic stop on Ferry Road as part of the investigation. Officers had obtained a search warrant for the vehicle's occupants. Amaral and Desouza were arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I narcotic, subsequent offense; felony drug conspiracy; and possession of a controlled substance, 10 grams or less.

Brum was arrested on Wednesday and charged with maintaining a common narcotics nuisance at 118 Church St. and for his role in facilitating the sale and distribution of cocaine and fentanyl from the home, police said.

Police said the case is connected to an earlier investigation involving Desouza and Amaral from this past spring, when Desouza was arrested for selling illegal narcotics in the Franklin and Wood Street and Franklin and Hope Street areas.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police did not rule out additional charges or arrests.
