A small group of billionaires is supplying a major share of the money flowing to Republican causes in the 2026 election cycle, according to Federal Election Commission filings released in October.

Elon Musk gave at least $276 million to support Republicans in the third quarter, making him the cycle’s largest individual spender, a review of the filings found. Shipping magnate Richard Uihlein contributed another $66 million to a super PAC active in federal and state races, bringing his total giving this cycle above $130 million.

Pennsylvania businessman Jeff Yass added $10 million to a super PAC backing Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign for Ohio governor. Yass’s total donations for the cycle now exceed $105 million.

Together, Musk, Uihlein and Yass have made more than $600 million in federal donations to Republicans this cycle, the filings show. Their contributions come as super PAC spending has reached record levels this fall and Republicans seek to offset an unfavorable national political climate with a substantial financial advantage.

The figures illustrate how a small number of very wealthy donors can shape the resources available to candidates and political groups. Super PACs can raise and spend large sums to influence elections, while the latest disclosures provide a view into who is financing that activity.
