Katie Bailey to take over White House legislative affairs after James Braid exits
President Donald Trump named Katie Bailey to lead the Office of Legislative Affairs, the White House team responsible for congressional relations and advancing the administration’s priorities on Capitol Hill. Bailey, a former Republican Senate staffer, has served as the office’s deputy director since early summer.
President Donald Trump announced Saturday that Katie Bailey will become director of the White House Office of Legislative Affairs, replacing James Braid, whose last day is Tuesday.
The office manages the administration’s relationships with Congress, works to advance White House legislative priorities and handles coordination on nominations and confirmations. Bailey has been its deputy director since the beginning of the summer.
Before joining the White House, Bailey worked for Republican Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana and former Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, and held positions on several congressional committees.
Trump credited Bailey with helping secure Senate confirmations for Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton and Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling. He said she had “already delivered strong results.”
