UA bars Sigma Phi Epsilon from activities during conduct probe
The University of Arizona has suspended the fraternity while it investigates alleged conduct violations tied to two unregistered social events. The university says the allegations include serving alcohol to underage guests and creating a risk to the campus community.
The University of Arizona has suspended Sigma Phi Epsilon from organizational activities while the university investigates alleged student conduct violations involving the fraternity.
The Dean of Students Office notified the fraternity in a letter Wednesday, saying the temporary suspension was imposed because the group was found to pose “a substantial risk to members of the university community.”
The university alleges that the fraternity served alcohol to underage guests and created a dangerous environment at two unregistered social events held during the current semester. The allegations have not been established as findings; the investigation is ongoing.
Until it is complete, Sigma Phi Epsilon may not host, attend, take part in or sponsor organizational activities. The letter also bars members from contacting people identified as alleged victims of the events or their families. The fraternity can continue to hold business meetings during the suspension.
