A woman was taken to a trauma center Saturday morning after a cactus struck her head on Scottsdale’s Bell Pass Trail, according to Scottsdale Fire Department information.

Scottsdale and Phoenix fire crews responded shortly after 7 a.m. on Oct. 17. Paramedic teams using electric bikes reached the hiker roughly two miles from the trailhead, where the terrain was steep, and treated her at the scene.

Crews moved her off the trail using a Big Wheel, a wheeled rescue device, and a utility terrain vehicle before taking her to a nearby trauma center for evaluation.

Officials have not said how the cactus struck the woman, what injuries she sustained or what her condition is.
