Queen Creek boy, 4, dies after being struck by family SUV

A 4-year-old boy died after being struck by his family’s SUV in a Queen Creek driveway, police said. The family was preparing to leave home when the collision happened.

Emergency responders were called at about 8 a.m. Oct. 16 to a home on Escalante Road, near Crismon and Ocotillo roads. Neighbors went to help before first responders arrived, according to Queen Creek police.

The boy was taken to a nearby hospital and then flown to another hospital in critical condition. He died later that day, police said Monday. Authorities have not released his name.

Queen Creek Police Chief Randy Brice described the incident as an accident and said the department was supporting the officers and neighbors involved.

“Our hearts are with the family. I can’t tell you what this does to everyone involved,” Brice said.

The investigation is ongoing.
