Phoenix Symphony pauses 2026-27 concerts, citing looming inability to pay obligations
The Phoenix Symphony says it will suspend its 2026-27 performances, programs and subscriptions because it lacks the money to continue as planned. The organization projects it may be unable to meet essential obligations beginning in November.
The Phoenix Symphony will suspend its 2026-27 performances and programs after its Sunday performance, the organization announced. It also is suspending subscriptions for the season and says it will contact subscribers directly about their options.
In an email announcing the decision, Symphony officials said ticket sales and contributed revenue had grown, but not enough to resolve the organization’s financial challenges.
“Simply put, we cannot continue spending funds we do not have,” the email said. “We project that the Symphony will be unable to meet essential obligations beginning in November.”
The announcement leaves the future of the Symphony’s 2026-27 season uncertain and affects subscribers as well as audiences planning to attend its concerts and programs. Officials did not provide further financial details or say whether performances might resume.
