Pedestrian dies after Phoenix hit-and-run near Northern Avenue; driver sought
A man died after being struck by a vehicle near 31st Drive and Northern Avenue on Thursday evening. Phoenix police are investigating and asking anyone with information to come forward.
A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle near 31st Drive and Northern Avenue in Phoenix on Thursday evening, Oct. 8. The driver left the scene before police arrived and had not been identified as of Friday, Oct. 9.
Phoenix police and firefighters responded shortly before 7 p.m. to reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian. First responders found the man seriously injured and took him to a hospital, where he died.
Police said preliminary findings indicate the man was crossing Northern Avenue midblock, outside a crosswalk, when he was hit. Investigators have not released a description of the vehicle. The department’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the ongoing investigation.
