Chandler’s Intel campus begins work on Fab 62, with production targeted for 2028
Intel says construction and equipment installation are underway at Fab 62, its sixth high-volume manufacturing facility at the company’s Ocotillo campus in Chandler. Production is expected to begin by the end of 2028.
Construction and equipment installation are underway on Intel’s Fab 62 at its Ocotillo campus in Chandler, a company executive said Wednesday. The facility is expected to begin production by the end of 2028.
Naga Chandrasekaran, Intel Foundry’s executive vice president and chief technology and operations officer, confirmed the project’s progress. The update is the first time Intel has publicly provided a construction status and production timeline for Fab 62.
Fab 62 would be the sixth high-volume manufacturing facility at the Chandler campus. Its progress follows the ramp-up to full production at Fab 52, which Intel began more than a year ago. Fab 52 covers 2.9 million square feet and is a key site for manufacturing Panther Lake and Clearwater Forest processors using Intel’s 18A process technology.
The schedule puts the new facility’s expected start of production more than two years away. The information provided did not include details about Fab 62’s cost, planned workforce, production capacity or expected effects on local utilities and infrastructure.
