Two men were taken to a hospital after a stabbing and fight outside Philadelphia City Hall on Sunday night, police said. The suspected assailant fled the scene.
Officers responded around 9:07 p.m. to 15th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard after a report of a person with a weapon. Police said witnesses described an argument between the suspected attacker and a 50-year-old man. The suspect allegedly produced an unidentified sharp object and struck the older man several times in the back of the head.
A crowd of about 10 to 12 people then joined the altercation and punched and kicked the suspected attacker, police said. During the incident, a 37-year-old man was stabbed in the left arm.
Both injured men were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police said the suspected attacker left the area and that the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not released information about a suspect or possible charges.
