Milford’s Lulu Ross Elementary to close all week after early-morning fire
A fire at Lulu Ross Elementary in Milford has canceled classes there for the week while school leaders develop a longer-term plan. Damage to internet and phone lines also forced neighboring Mispillion Elementary to cancel classes Monday.
Students at Lulu Ross Elementary in Milford, Delaware, will be out of school for the week after a fire damaged the building early Sunday, Oct. 25.
Fire crews were called to the school at about 4:15 a.m. and took roughly three hours to bring the blaze under control. Investigators have not determined what caused it.
School leaders are working on a longer-term plan for Lulu Ross, but no details about that plan were available Monday. The fire also damaged internet and phone lines serving nearby Mispillion Elementary, prompting that school to cancel classes Monday.
The closures disrupt instruction at two Milford schools, though the reported cancellations differ: Lulu Ross is closed for the week, while Mispillion canceled classes for Monday.
