Plymouth Township Police Seek Driver in Hit-and-Run That Left Pedestrian Unconscious Near Plymouth Meeting Mall
A man was found unconscious in a mall parking lot after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on West Germantown Pike late Friday night. Plymouth Township police have not released a vehicle description and are asking the public for help.
PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Pa. â Plymouth Township police are searching for the driver who struck a man near the Plymouth Meeting Mall late Friday night and fled the scene, leaving the victim unconscious in a mall parking lot.
The crash occurred around 10 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of West Germantown Pike, according to police. When officers arrived, they found the man unresponsive in the mall parking lot. Medics transported him to Paoli Hospital. His condition had not been released as of Sunday.
Authorities have not provided a description of the vehicle involved in the collision. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Plymouth Township Police.
The stretch of West Germantown Pike near the mall is a busy commercial corridor that carries heavy vehicle traffic and serves as a key access point for shoppers, workers and pedestrians. The circumstances of the crash â including where the man was walking when he was struck and how he came to be in the parking lot â remain under investigation.
Hit-and-run crashes have claimed lives elsewhere in the region in recent weeks, including a fatal collision in Germantown and a crash in Voorhees, N.J., that killed a diner worker. Advocates for pedestrian safety have long argued that road designs prioritizing vehicle speed over walkability, combined with weak enforcement, leave people on foot vulnerable â particularly at night in areas with sparse lighting and long distances between crosswalks.
Anyone with information is asked to call Plymouth Township Police.
