Great Wolf Lodge guest faces homicide charges after husband and son found dead
Metallica Harrison, 27, is charged with two counts of criminal homicide in the deaths of her husband and 3-year-old son at the Poconos resort. Court documents describe a 911 call, evidence found in the family’s room and the family’s stay at the lodge.
A 27-year-old woman is charged with two counts of criminal homicide after her husband and 3-year-old son were found dead in a room at Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Pennsylvania, according to court documents and police statements.
Police were called to the resort around 3:13 p.m. Oct. 12 after a report of a woman in distress. Metallica Harrison told a 911 dispatcher she needed help and said her husband and son were already dead, according to an affidavit. Officers found Harrison with injuries and took her to a hospital for treatment.
In the room, officers found Charles Harrison and the child on a mattress on the floor. The affidavit says Charles Harrison had multiple stab wounds to his chest and the child had one. Investigators reported finding two knives, medication bottles and other items in the room. Resort staff told police the lodge did not keep knives of that style, according to the affidavit.
Harrison allegedly told emergency personnel she had taken blood thinners and expressed regret about what had happened. The statements are described in court documents; the allegations have not been tested at trial.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators showed the family entering their room the evening of Oct. 11. Metallica and Charles Harrison were later seen going to the resort arcade and returning to the room. The family had checked into the lodge on Sept. 21, and their reservation was extended through Oct. 13, according to the affidavit.
Great Wolf Lodge said in a statement that it was “deeply saddened and heartbroken” by the incident, describing it as isolated and saying it was cooperating with law enforcement.
Harrison’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 21. Court documents did not identify an attorney who could comment on her behalf.
