FBI, Philadelphia police search Olney property tied to seven missing women
Philadelphia police and FBI investigators continued searching a Chew Avenue property in the city’s Olney neighborhood Wednesday, as part of an investigation into seven missing women. Five of the women are presumed dead, and authorities have not confirmed whether evidence collected at the home will clarify their cases. Crews dug in the backyard Tuesday and dismantled a wooden shed, collecting soil in bags. Investigators were expected to turn their attention to the front yard Wednesday. The property belonged to the late Raymond “RC” Horsch, who had ties to all seven women. The search followed an examination inside the home Monday evening, when investigators applied luminol, a chemical used to reveal possible traces of blood that are not visible to the naked eye. Law enforcement sources reported that DNA was found, but it remains unclear whether it belongs to any of the missing women. The property has been under round-the-clock surveillance since late June. The investigation intensified after police arrested Horsch’s son, Eugene Horsch, on charges of impersonating a federal agent. A woman who was with him provided police with an identification card belonging to another woman who had been missing for years, prompting concerns and a closer look at the property. Excavation was expected to continue until about Oct. 16, though local and federal investigators planned to remain at the site until they had collected all evidence. Authorities have not announced findings that would establish what happened to the women. Anyone with information can contact Philadelphia police at 215-686-8477.
