Bristol Township police seek three suspects after Croydon break-in attempt and shooting

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Bristol Township police are seeking three masked, armed suspects after an attempted garage break-in in Croydon and a shooting on a nearby street early Friday, Oct. 23. Investigators believe the same group was involved in both incidents, which damaged two vehicles and two garages.

Surveillance video released by police shows three people trying to open a garage door at a home on Dixon Avenue. Police said the attempted break-in happened about 20 minutes before shots were fired on Colonial Drive.

On the 1900 block of Colonial Drive, a resident spotted several people on a home security system checking a car door in the driveway and yelled at them to leave, investigators said. The group left, and gunfire followed shortly afterward. Video from a neighboring home shows two people getting out of a vehicle and firing multiple shots down the street, police said.

Police Lt. Mark Titus said investigators are considering whether the shooting was aimed at a vehicle belonging to the resident who confronted the group. Authorities said a Honda Odyssey and a Dodge Ram belonging to nearby resident Kyle Brooks were stolen.

Brooks said he heard the shots while he was home with his wife and their 18-month-old child. At first, he thought the noise was a car backfiring. He said his main concern was his family’s safety, not the loss of the truck.

Police released the footage in hopes that someone will recognize the suspects. The department is increasing patrols and coordinating with neighboring agencies as the search continues. Titus said the presence of firearms and the risk to residents make the case a serious priority.

Police consider the suspects armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees suspicious activity should call 911 and not confront them.
