Caruso exits Thunder-Suns game with right ankle sprain as OKC’s injury list grows
Oklahoma City guard Alex Caruso injured his right ankle late in the second quarter Monday and was not expected to return against Phoenix. The injury came a day after the Thunder lost Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace to injuries requiring surgery.
Oklahoma City Thunder guard Alex Caruso left Monday’s game against the Phoenix Suns with a right ankle sprain after turning his ankle late in the second quarter at Paycom Center.
Caruso was not expected to return, according to ESPN. He had nine points, three assists and two rebounds in nine minutes before leaving the game.
The injury adds to a difficult stretch for the Thunder. General Manager Sam Presti said earlier Monday that forward Jalen Williams dislocated his left ankle and fractured his fibula in Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Williams will need surgery and is expected to miss several months.
Guard Cason Wallace also was injured against the Clippers, suffering a torn labrum in his left shoulder. He will undergo surgery, and both Wallace and Williams are sidelined indefinitely.
Oklahoma City was ahead of Phoenix at the end of the third quarter Monday. The Thunder entered the game 3-0 this season.
