Tyler Ulrich, 21, dies after head injury in Southern Nazarene football game
Southern Nazarene University said Tyler Ulrich died after suffering a serious head injury in a game against Ouachita Baptist in Arkansas. The university is directing students and employees to campus counseling and pastoral support, while community members have organized a fundraiser for his family.
BETHANY, Okla. — Tyler Ulrich, a 21-year-old Southern Nazarene University football player, has died after suffering a serious head injury during a game against Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas, Southern Nazarene announced Thursday, Oct. 15.
Ulrich was taken to a hospital after the injury, the university said. It did not provide further details about the circumstances of the incident.
In a statement, Southern Nazarene said the loss was being felt across campus and offered condolences to Ulrich’s family, friends and teammates. The university said students, faculty and staff can seek support through its Renew Counseling Center and campus pastors.
Community members have also started an online fundraiser to support Ulrich’s family.
