Search resumes along Oklahoma City river after missing-person report

Oklahoma City firefighters resumed searching riverbanks near Santa Fe Avenue and SE 44th Street at about 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, after receiving a report of a missing person, the fire department said.

The search followed an earlier call Wednesday morning reporting a possible drowning in the area. Fire crews arrived around 7 a.m. and searched for about two hours, but could not confirm whether anyone was in the water. They called off the effort Wednesday.

Firefighters were searching along the riverbanks Thursday and planned to continue as long as conditions allowed. Rain was still moving through the Oklahoma City metro area, the department said.

Authorities had not released the missing person’s identity or additional details about the report.
