Rainwater repeatedly seeps into Villas at Melrose apartments, family says

OKLAHOMA CITY — A resident’s family says repeated rainwater intrusion has flooded apartments at Villas at Melrose, a community for people 55 and older, and is calling on management to make a lasting repair.

Alisha Pendergraff said she spent two days mopping, vacuuming and using towels to remove water from her 75-year-old mother’s apartment. She said the water had come in several times since her mother moved in, sometimes reaching a couple of inches deep and returning beneath the walls after it was cleaned up.

Pendergraff said she and her mother had dealt with the problem six or seven times. During the latest cleanup, she estimated she had discarded about 10 buckets of mop water and used roughly 30 towels.

A tenant living a few doors away was also dealing with pooled water near his front door, with many of his belongings wet, according to Pendergraff and the tenant’s account.

Pendergraff said management had offered temporary measures rather than a permanent solution. She described a maintenance worker leaving an older fan to dry the area and saying he would return for it later.

The property is managed by Green Companies Development Group. The company did not respond to questions about the residents’ concerns by publication time on Oct. 15, 2026.
