Oklahoma City firefighters restart river search after new missing-person report

Oklahoma City firefighters resumed a search along the river Thursday afternoon after receiving a new report of a missing person, a day after responding to a possible drowning near Santa Fe Avenue and SE 44th Street.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department said crews restarted the search around 3 p.m. Thursday and were checking the riverbanks. Firefighters first responded to the area around 7 a.m. Wednesday following a report of a drowning.

After about two hours of searching Wednesday, crews could not confirm that anyone was in the water and called off the effort, the department said. The new missing-person report prompted the search to resume.

OKCFD said crews would continue searching as long as conditions allowed. Rain was still moving through the Oklahoma City metro area Thursday, the department said.
