Waymo Adds BNA Pickups and Drop-Offs for Some Nashville Riders

Waymo’s driverless ride service is now operating at Nashville International Airport, with airport trips initially limited to select customers. The airport has set aside a pickup and drop-off area at the Ground Transportation Center’s D1 curb.

Waymo Adds BNA Pickups and Drop-Offs for Some Nashville Riders

Waymo’s autonomous ride service began serving Nashville International Airport on Oct. 14, adding airport pickups and drop-offs to its operations in the city.

The service is available at BNA to select riders, with access expected to expand over time. Waymo vehicles will use a dedicated space at the D1 curb in the airport’s Ground Transportation Center.

BNA is the fifth U.S. airport where Waymo operates, joining airports in Phoenix, San José, San Francisco and San Antonio. The expansion gives travelers another option for getting to and from the airport, alongside existing ground-transportation services.

“BNA takes great pride in introducing innovative ways to enhance the passenger journey, and welcoming Waymo provides travelers with another convenient transportation option to and from the airport,” said Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, in a news release.

Waymo launched service in Nashville earlier this year through a partnership with Lyft. Riders can access trips through Lyft as well as Waymo’s own network. The cost of the airport-service arrangement was not disclosed.

The company’s Nashville service area covers 50 square miles. In September, Waymo also began allowing riders ages 13 to 17 to use accounts set up by their parents, making Nashville one of two U.S. markets, alongside Phoenix, with teen accounts.

Waymo’s airport trips are an expansion of a transportation option still rolling out to customers. The initial restriction to select riders means airport access is not yet available to everyone using the service.
