Pickup crashes through rear wall of Springfield H.G. Hill grocery store

A woman was taken into custody after the pickup truck she was driving crashed into the rear of the H.G. Hill Food Store on Memorial Boulevard in Springfield late Sunday, Oct. 18, according to local reports.

Springfield police were called to the store shortly before 10 p.m. The white Ford F-150 was traveling through an alley between Willow and Hill streets when the driver lost control, crossed Hill Street and slid down a steep embankment toward the store, the reports said.

The impact left a hole in the building’s rear wall large enough to expose part of the store’s interior. The driver was not injured. The reason she was taken into custody was not reported.

The grocery store was expected to open Monday despite the damage, according to the reports.
