Nashville police seek shooter after Hickory Hollow gunfire; two women charged
A 22-year-old man is expected to survive after being shot in the mouth Wednesday in the Hickory Hollow area. Police say two women were charged with evidence tampering after a firearm magazine was allegedly removed and discarded; the shooter has not been identified.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Police are still looking for the person who shot a 22-year-old man Wednesday morning in the Hickory Hollow area, while two women face evidence-tampering charges in connection with the investigation.
The shooting happened in a parking lot near Hickory Hollow Parkway after an argument between the victim and another man, according to Metro Nashville police. The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the mouth and taken to a hospital. He is expected to survive, police said.
Investigators identified the women as Karma Day and Braylee McDonald, who police say were in the area when the shooting occurred. An arrest affidavit says surveillance video shows Day standing over a black object and moving and covering it with her feet. The footage allegedly shows McDonald covering the object with clothing, picking it up and leaving with it.
Police say McDonald later acknowledged picking up a black firearm magazine and throwing it into a wooded area. Detectives searched there but did not find it. Investigators believe the magazine may be evidence related to the shooting.
The shooter has not been identified. Police also said the victim is a convicted felon who allegedly had a weapon during the incident. Warrants have been issued for his arrest, to be served after he is released from the hospital.
The investigation remains ongoing.
