A La Vergne resident was arrested after police investigated online threats targeting Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, a local pastor and places of worship, the La Vergne Police Department said Oct. 22.

Detectives began looking for the resident after learning Williamson County had issued an order of protection against them. Initial efforts to locate the person and serve the order were unsuccessful, police said.

Investigators later reviewed publicly available online statements and described the threats as becoming more specific. Police said the statements involved Lee, Pastor Corey Trimble and places of worship.

Officers took the resident into custody after a brief struggle. One officer and two detectives suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment, according to police. The resident was then transported for mental health observation and evaluation.

Police said the resident faces felony and misdemeanor charges. The department did not identify the person or specify the charges in its public account.
