Brewers fan uses 12-year-old ticket to secure World Series seat
Nate Holzman, a lifelong Brewers fan who bought a $1,000 “Timeless Ticket” 12 years ago, will attend Game 1 of the World Series in Milwaukee. The team also says eligible ticket holders can keep their World Series seats and retain the pass for a future game after complaints over the redemption process.
MILWAUKEE — Nate Holzman will be at Game 1 of the World Series after redeeming a Brewers ticket he bought 12 years ago for $1,000.
Holzman, originally from Oak Creek and now living in Los Angeles, was among 1,000 fans who purchased the embossed “Timeless Ticket.” It promised its holder a seat at a future game of their choosing.
After attending Game 3 of the National League Championship Series in Los Angeles, Holzman decided to use his pass for the World Series. The Brewers confirmed over the weekend that he would receive a seat for Game 1 at American Family Field.
The pass covered Holzman’s own ticket. It also let him buy three additional terrace seats at face value for $1,000 apiece so his parents and a friend could join him.
The team later changed its approach after some Timeless Ticket holders objected to the redemption process and seat locations. The Brewers said fans who applied before the deadline would be able to keep their World Series tickets and retain their original passes for redemption at another game in a future season, including a future World Series if the team returns.
In a statement, the team’s president of business operations said the Brewers had made a mistake in communicating how the requests would be fulfilled. The team said it was able to accommodate all applicants with seats but acknowledged that some fans were dissatisfied with their locations and that the program had not met its intended spirit.
