Moore rallies Crowley in Wisconsin as Tiffany courts hunters with Nugent
With Election Day less than a month away, Wisconsin gubernatorial candidates David Crowley and Tom Tiffany are bringing prominent allies into the campaign. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore urged Democrats to focus on voters, while musician and activist Ted Nugent called on hunters to turn out for Tiffany.
The Wisconsin governor’s race intensified this week as Democrat David Crowley and Republican Tom Tiffany campaigned with high-profile surrogates ahead of Election Day.
Maryland Gov. Wes Moore joined Crowley for stops across southeastern Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 9, and encouraged Democrats to unite behind their nominee. “The job is not to defend the Democratic Party,” Moore said. “The job is to defend your people.”
Crowley won the Democratic primary over state Rep. Francesca Hong by fewer than 4,000 votes. Hong has since said Crowley should make clear to her supporters that he shares their values. Moore said Crowley should spend time communicating those values and added that he believed the nominee was “doing just fine.”
Tiffany, meanwhile, appeared Thursday at a Green Bay event aimed at Wisconsin hunters, headlined by musician and political activist Ted Nugent. Nugent urged supporters not to stay on the sidelines and said he backed what he described as “Christian, constitutional, conservation representation” in Wisconsin.
The events came as both campaigns worked to mobilize their bases in the final weeks before voters choose the state’s next governor.
