MILWAUKEE — Democrat David Crowley leads Republican Tom Tiffany by 3 percentage points among likely voters in Wisconsin’s governor’s race, according to a Marquette Law School poll released Wednesday, Sept. 30, with absentee voting underway and 34 days until Election Day. The poll found Crowley at 49% and Tiffany at 46% among likely voters. Among registered voters, Crowley led 46% to 45%; both contests were within the poll’s margin of error. The likely-voter gap narrowed since August, when Crowley led 49% to 44%. Among registered voters, the candidates were tied at 44% in the earlier poll. Crowley’s unfavorable rating rose to 44%, up from 29% in August. Poll director Charles Franklin said most of that increase came from Republicans. Tiffany’s unfavorable rating edged up to 45%. The poll was conducted Sept. 16-23. No sample size or specific margin of error was provided in the available poll results. The narrowing contest comes as voters begin casting absentee ballots.
